
Rosie Perez, born Rosa Maria Perez on September 6, 1964, is an American actress and choreographer. Her breakthrough role as Tina in Do the Right Thing (1989) was followed by White Men Can't jump (1992). Perez's performance as Tina , in Fearless (1993) brought her an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Perez's roles as a star in movies include It Could Happen to You (1994) and The Road to El Dorado(2000), Pineapple Express (2007) and Birds of Prey (2018). Perez also earned three Primetime Emmy Award nominations (in 1990-1994), and another Emmy nomination (2020-present) for her performance as the Flight Attendant. She has performed in stage shows on Broadway like The Ritz, Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, and Fish in the Dark. She was also a co-host on the ABC talk show The View during the series in its 18th season. She was a student at Grover Cleveland High School, in the Ridgewood neighborhood of Queens. By 1999 her mother was living in poverty, in the Woodside Houses, when she passed away from AIDS-related complications.
