Dolly-Parton
born on January. 19 1946, in Locust Ridge Tenn into a low-income family that would ultimately comprise 12 kids Dolly Parton learned early to overcome the challenges of her life by using her vivid and broad imagination. She was writing songs before she learned to write or read. She got her first guitar when she was 8 and started singing at an Knoxville Tenn radio station at the age of 11. In the following year, she made her first album with Gold Band Records an independent small label. Although she was in school, she had already made a name of herself in the local music scene. Her goal was to to play on a larger level. After graduating from high school in 1964, she immediately moved to Nashville. Dumb Blonde (1967) and Something Fishy (1968) were the first two albums to chart for Monument Records. Porter Wagoner began looking for female singers to join his syndicated television program at approximately the same time. Parton was offered the gig and in the year 1967, she signed to RCA Records in 1968 and became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 1969. Parton left the show however, in 1974 because her solo albums like Joshua Coat Of Many Colors and Jolene outsold their collaborations. Parton's song, I Will Never Love You (for Wagoner), reached the top of the. 1 spot after they split. The first time it reached the top spot was in 1974.
