Taylor

Taylor Swift has become a unique pop star: a superstar who crossed over completely from the world of country music to pop culture, becoming a pop icon that will be around forever, and will conquer all of the world. Swift dropped country as if it was a second layer of herself, proving that she's perhaps the best pop-singer/songwriter in her generation. Someone who is able to harness the current zeitgeist and make it personal, and sing in the other direction. This was evident in her earliest hits especially the Neo-tribute Tim McGraw but her second album, 2008's Fearless featured a singer-songwriter figuring out who she was and in the process finding a mass audience. The album ended up with a lot of reach not just within the U.S. where it racked seven platinum singles thanks to Top Ten hits Love Story and You Belong with Me but throughout the world, with a particular success with Canada, the U.K. Canada and Australia. Swift was able to consolidate her success through Speak Now almost two year later. With the three albums following (Reputation 2017, 1989 2014, and Red 2012) Red 2012 1989, Red 2012 as well as Reputation 2017 -- her fame only grew. This was a sure indicator that Swift had entered a new pop world which she was able to fit into. However, even when she reduced her strategy with 2020's stripped down sister album folklore, and Evermore she remained atop the world of pop, a position that she maintained through re-recordings from her earlier catalog, as well as Midnights the top charting synth heavy 2022 set.
